MICHIGAN (WJRT) -

(02/27/14) - Just a few days after Michigan Representative John Dingell announced his retirement, we've learned his wife plans to launch her campaign to take his place.

Eighty-seven-year-old Dingell is the longest-serving congressman in U.S. History.

The Democrat was first elected in 1955, filling the House seat vacated by his late father.

Friday, Dingell's wife Debbie will formally announce her plans to run. The 60 year old has stops planned in Dearborn, Ann Arbor, and Ypsilanti.

Democrats are expected to easily hold the seat.
