AUBURN (WJRT) -

(03/10/14) - A Bay County man police say crashed into a house, killing a man sleeping in his bed, faced a judge Monday afternoon.

Now, the 21-year-old faces several drunken driving charges.

Hunter Motko faces three charges. This comes after the SUV police say he was driving crashed into a home early Sunday morning.

Those charges include: operating while intoxicated causing death, operating while intoxicated causing serious injury and operating while intoxicated on the highway.

The accident happened around 5:30 Sunday morning, when police say Motko ran through a stop sign that was in front of the house in the 500 block of Ruth Street and crashed into the Lietzke's bedroom.

Forty-one-year-old Vaughn Lietzke died in his home. His wife, 42-year-old Sandra, was hurt. She was airlifted to St. Mary's Medical Center and last check was in stable condition.

Motko was arrested at the scene.

This isn't his first encounter with the law. Judge Timothy Kelly says Motko was convicted of impaired driving back in 2011.

The 21 year old's attorney says Motko was unaware of the extent of the injuries to the husband and wife. He says he was on his way home when it happened.

It could take a few weeks before a blood alcohol level is determined.

There's no indication of how fast he was going at the time of the accident.

State police are continuing to investigate. Bond is set at $500,000.

A date has not been set for his preliminary exam.

If he's convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
