Hearing scheduled for Goodrich teacher after controversial video

Posted: Updated:
GOODRICH (WJRT) -

(03/12/14) - A hearing has been scheduled for a Goodrich teacher at the center of a controversial video.

The video was taken by Oaktree Elementary fifth grade teacher Nicole McVey.

It shows the student with Asperger Syndrome stuck in a classroom chair last November.

The parents' attorney says the teacher then showed the video to the class and the principal emailed it to others at the school.

The principal resigned.

The school board is trying to fire McVey. The next step in that process will be a tenure hearing on May 21.
