(03/12/14) - First Merit bank is planning to close and consolidate 26 branches.
Many of them are in Mid-Michigan.
According to published reports, the Branch in the 12000 block of South Saginaw Road in Grand Blanc Township will close in April. The Miller Road branch in Flint Township, and the branch near Torrey and Thompson Roads in Fenton Township, will close in June.
In the Great Lakes Bay Region, four branches are slated to close by early June. That includes the bank near Fashion Square Mall on Bay Road in Saginaw Township.
The branch on East Wilder Road in Bay County's Bangor Township is also set to close.
A First Merit spokesperson says the company is working to move current employees to other branches.
