Students from 3 counties participate in regional science fair

(03/15/14) - The fifty-eighth Annual Flint Regional Science fair is bringing out future scientists and engineers from three Mid-Michigan counties. Students from grades 4-12 from Genesee, Shiawassee, Lapeer, St. Clair and Tuscola Counties competed for a combined $30,000 in prizes.

Prizes range from gifts cards, to iPads and even scholarships. Two lucky winners will even get the chance to attend the International Science and Engineering Fair (INTEL) in Los Angeles California. Top junior division competitors will be nominated for the Broadcom MASTERS competition in Washington D.C.

The "Teacher of the Year" is also recognized at the science fair. This teacher is nominated by colleagues, students and parents.

Awards are scheduled for Sunday, March 16. The Elementary Division awards will be at 1:30. The Junior and Senior Divisions will be at 3:15.

The fair is open to the public on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
