Fans remember Terry Trafford at Saginaw Spirit Game Saturday night

Posted: Updated:

(03/15/14) - The Saginaw Spirit said goodbye to a fallen player Saturday night at the Dow Event Center.

There was a moment of silence in honor of Terry Trafford before the game began. Fans say they hope this loss will bring the team closer to one another as the season goes on. They say they will never forget Trafford.

"He always gave 100 percent. You always knew he was out there. You could remember his name. There are players you have to bring to mind, but Trafford was always someone you knew because of his speed," said John King, a season ticket holder from Flint.

Police say Trafford ended his own life in a Walmart parking lot on March 3, 2014.

Trafford was serving a suspension for violating team rules, but his father and Spirit manager said his hockey career could have continued.
