Mid-Michigan college basketball fans sound off about Big Ten Tournament

KOCHVILLE TOWNSHIP (WJRT) -

(03/16/14) - If you bleed green, your team earned bragging rights, Sunday.

MSU beat U of M in the Big Ten Tournament, 69 to 55.

Now, fans in Mid-Michigan have their eyes on the NCAA tournament.

Even though MSU won the tournament, Wolverines aren't letting that get them down.

"It's hard to beat a team three times in one season," said U of M fan Bill Barkowska.

"I went into the game not thinking Michigan was going to win, they really don't have anything to play for," said Holly Watson.

U of M are the regular season champs, so this game was really about bragging rights.

"It gets us prepared for the next step and any time you can beat Michigan, it's a good day," said Jodi Mayan.

"I really wanted to win it, but I think winning the Big Ten outright is a lot more important than winning the tournament, so if this is the worst we do this season, I'll take it," Barkowska said.

Both teams kick off march madness this Thursday - and local fans can't wait to see who really takes it all the way.

"I'm looking forward to filling out the bracket," Barkowska said.

"I'll put (MSU) in my final four and we'll go from there," Mayan said.

This Thursday, U of M takes on Wofford in Wisconsin. The Spartans take on Delaware in Washington.
