(03/21/14) - An accident Friday morning on Flint's north side sent a pregnant woman and her child to the hospital.
It happened on Saginaw Street, near Edmond, around 10 a.m.
There is a broken water main in the middle of Saginaw Street, and some of the water has turned to ice. It's believed that is what caused the accident.
There is good news - the mother and her child are said to be OK.
The pregnant woman's SUV turned on its side. She had to be pulled from the wreckage by fire fighters.
Her son was strapped in a car seat.
They both were taken to Hurley Medical Center, but their injuries are not life threatening.
A person who lives nearby tells us this water main break didn't just happen - and he's hoping it gets fixed soon. The city of Flint tells us crews are working on the water main break now.
We're told there are a number of water main breaks around the city, as is common around this time of year.
Crews are focusing their attention on those that leave residents without service first. Second on the list are main breaks that interfere with major traffic areas.
Then, crews will turn their attention to minor leaks.
