(03/24/14) - A Saginaw County company is putting out the help wanted sign for
the second time in 2014.
It was in early January when we told Morley Companies was in need of 250 people to fill jobs. Those spots have been filled, and 100 more workers are now needed.
Morley Companies had about 400 associates in 2009, and by the end of this year, that number is expected to be approaching 2,000.
The growing Morley Companies bought the old AT&T building in Saginaw Township in 2012. Less than two years later, the expanded parking lot is full - a clear sign of Morley's rapid expansion.
The company doesn't use the word "employees" - the people here are called associates, and dozens of associates who live in Genesee County take buses to and from work every day.
"Right now, we have programs that are expanding due to their success," said Jill Gushow, of Morley Companies.
Those programs include everything from roadside assistance help centers, to event planning, to theater services - a diversified company that provides services to Fortune 500 clients.
Gushow says the company is working with Delta College to help train potential workers.
"We are going to be having two more Fast Starts at Delta, specifically for these positions at Morley," she said.
Sharnae Beeman is from Saginaw, and moved back when she was offered a job with Morley. She's been here nine months, and is glad to hear more people are being hired.
"Makes me comfortable, that my job is secure," she said.
After the additional 100 associates are added, Gushow is hoping the trend will continue.
"We don't see it stopping at this point," she said.
David Greenfield was hired two months ago and he has advice for the new hires.
"You have to get here on time, if you are like two minutes late, you are not going to find a place to park," he said.
