(03/21/14) - Flint Police have officially closed a murder investigation that began more than 13 years ago.
The body of Cierra Nelson was found in April 2001 in Mount Morris Township.
The 10-year-old girl had disappeared about four months earlier while walking to her home on Flint's north side.
A Major Case Unit press release says the case was re-evaluated this week and the investigation was closed "due to the death of the offender".
Police investigated a number of leads over the years, but never made an arrest in Cierra's death.
