(03/26/14) - For the fourth consecutive year, students at Grand Blanc's Cook Elementary are helping to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network.
This time around, the first grade students in Dalynn Murphy's class served customers drinks and homemade food at the Lazy Bear Lodge café.
Over the past three years, the students have raised more than $3,000.
"Kids can really connect to helping other kids. And they get really touched when Mrs. Stephens comes in to help us and she teaches them what their money goes for, shows them pictures of babies and they can really get a sympathetic viewpoint," Murphy said.
The project also taught the kids science, social studies, writing and math skills.
