(04/01/14) - It was a historic day at the Genesee County Clerk's office.
Clerk John Gleason handed over decades worth of election records to Sloan Longway Museum.
The county is required to hang on to the records for between 5 and 15 years, but kept them in storage much longer.
Sloan Longway says it's excited to make the documents easily accessible to community members who want to learn more about Genesee County's past.
"It's fascinating," said Jeremy Dimick, Sloan Longway Curator of Collections. "You see the public face of a lot of these people and you don't know the other side of it. So it's more of a human look at them in that you see the seeds of them growing into public figures. I mean, everyone had to go through this documentation process."
The records will be available by appointment at The Buick Gallery.
