Local church shows support for gay community

FLINT (WJRT) -

(04/03/14) - As the future of gay marriage in Michigan hangs in the balance, many people across Mid-Michigan are drawing a line in the sand on the debate.

Now, a local church is taking a very visible stand on the issue.

A rainbow flag is hanging on the bell tower of Woodside Church in Flint. The flag is a sign of pride for the gay community.

Rev. Deborah Conrad from Woodside Church says she knows there could some push back, but she wants to get her message out.

"We are a welcoming place for folks in the LGBT community as well as straights, old and young and everybody else," she said.
