GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) -

(04/04/14) - At just 2 years old, he has more than 6,000 Facebook friends - and all of them are praying for his full recovery.

Little Liam suffered a traumatic brain injury when he was 7 months old. He lost his vision and his ability to function normally.

His family is facing mounting medical bills. To help bring in money, his father got creative.

"We dropped him off at 6 in the morning at his daycare provider, and at 11:43 in the morning, I got a call that he was being rushed to the hospital," said Greg Henderson, Liam's father.

Doctors say he suffered from shaken baby syndrome.

"He had massive brain loss. hemorrhaging in the brain," Greg said.

The entire right side of his brain was damaged, and he was left blind. To make matters worse, his parents were given no answers about who harmed their child.

They had to fight past the pain and uncertainty to support their son.

"It was such a devastating injury for him," said Jennifer Henderson, Liam's mother.

Today, this toddler's life seems to be improving. Liam can now see, with the aid of glasses, and he goes through therapy almost daily.

It will be a while before his family knows the true extent of his injuries.

"We don't know what the future holds for him. In a perfect world, he'd get better and better and better, but we don't know," Jennifer said.

With increasing expenses, the Hendersons had to become resourceful, so Liam's father put his skills to the test.

He works with jeeps for a living, and built one with donations from friends and co-workers. It picked up an impressive award at Autorama in Detroit this year.

"Won third place in my class," Greg said.

Now the family is raffling the sweet ride off to help them keep up with expenses, another part of the continuing fight for their child.

"You never stop," Greg said.

They're holding on to faith that little Liam will persevere.

"We'll never give up. We can't," Greg said.

The jeep will be raffled off on Oct. 11. Tickets are only $25.
