Warmer weather means neighbors can finally clean up winter storm mess

FLUSHING (WJRT) -

(04/09/14) - Along with the warmer weather comes spring cleaning.

Neighbors in Flushing are finally able to clean up the aftermath of our harsh winter storms.

"When you're in a area with a lot of trees, you have a lot of stuff to clean up," said Barry Pratt, while cleaning up his back yard.

A little bit of elbow grease in the backyard is in order - in fact it's welcome - when the sun is finally shining. But old man winter couldn't leave without one last headache for homeowners.

"A lot of this stuff came down in the ice storm," Pratt said.

More than three months after the big storm, neighbors are finally able to clean up.

The city of Flushing is doing its part to chip away at the piles.

You might see their wood chipper, plucking along city streets on any given Wednesday this spring or summer.

This Wednesday is particularly busy, now that neighbors finally got a few warm days back-to-back to clean up the last remnants of a harsh winter.
