Love Your City Curbside Pick Up schedule

(04/12/14) - Earth Day celebrations started early this year.

The Love Your City Blight elimination initiative started curbside clean ups in Flint this weekend.

Flint Mayor Dayne Walling was there helping out. He told ABC12 this project has a lot more to it thank just picking up.

"Volunteers get a lot of work done, but they also just build so much strength in the community. And to see people of all different ages coming together and working together as a team, that's what's going to carry Flint forward," he said.

Here is a look at the Love Your City Pick-Up schedule:

Unlimited Large Items May 5 - 9

All bags must be placed curbside. All bags must weigh under 50 lbs. No Hazardous materials or chemicals. Will not affect regular garbage day pick up.

Unlimited Bundled Brush/Lawn Debris May 19 - 23

All bundles must be no longer than 4 feet long and branches must be less than 4 inches thick. No trees, trunks, stumps or logs. Will not affect regular garbage day yard waste pick up.

Graffiti Free Day Saturday May 10 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Salem Housing 3216 Martin Luther King Ave.

Volunteers should bring cotton gloves and wear old clothing. To register or report graffiti, contact Melanie Poisson by 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, 810- 237-2090.

Tire Buy Back May 17

9 a.m. - 2 p.m. 6515 N. Dort Highway, Environmental Rubber Recycling.

$1 per tire (minimum 25 tires, ID Required)
