Preventing brush fires

(04/11/14) - With the warmer weather and dryer conditions, more brush fires are popping up throughout Mid-Michigan.

Saturday night, we talked to Chief Scott Fall from the Chesaning-Brady fire department.

He says brush fires are a huge problem during this time of the year.

"Everyone is anxious to get their yard cleaned up, and jump the gun on the burning and don't wait for a calm day and then their neighbor's property is on fire and it even leads to a few structure fires every year," Fall said.

Chief Fall gave us three tips to help prevent brush fires.

He says don't burn if there is any wind, wait for a still day. Stay away from flammables, like tall grass and have a garden hose with water nearby.
