Saginaw Township Board approves plan to put 5.5-mil proposal on August ballot

SAGINAW TOWNSHIP (WJRT) -

(04/15/14) - Saginaw Township hopes voters are willing to pay more for police protection.

Under a plan approved by the Township Board Monday night, a 5.5-mil proposal should end up on the August primary ballot.

That's a 2.5-mil increase over the millage that expired in December.

The township manager says for an average $130,000 home, it would be an increase of just more than $160 a year. That comes out to 45 cents a day.

The millage would be for 15 years.
