(04/15/14) - Just as his trial was about to begin Tuesday morning, 18-year-old Darshaun Demond pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and a gun charge.
Demond is accused in the March 2013 murder of Laventez Phipps in Mt. Morris Township.
Police have said Demond shot the 21-year-old father twice, at Phipps' Mt. Morris Township home, while attempting to sell him a gun.
Demond's plea agreement calls for a recommendation of 18 years in prison plus another two for the gun charge.
He'll be sentenced next month.
