Lawsuit filed after organs of murdered Mid-Michigan boy weren't donated

Posted: Updated:
SAGINAW COUNTY (WJRT) - (04/22/14) - A lawsuit has been filed because the organs of a murdered Mid-Michigan boy weren't donated to save others.

Six-year-old Elijah Dillard died March 1 at Flint's Hurley Medical Center after he was beaten to death.

His father is charged with murder, and his mother is charged child abuse.

Gift of Life Michigan is suing the Saginaw County medical examiner, saying the timing and handling of Elijah's autopsy prevented the little boy's organs from being donated.

The county says the autopsy was needed as evidence in the case against his parents.
