Revitalizing downtown Saginaw

Posted: Updated:
BURTON (WJRT) - (04/22/14) - Residents of Saginaw's newest downtown development got a chance to get to know their community Tuesday night.

A coffee shop called Dawn of the New Day hosted a meet and greet for locals.

The overall goal is to work together to revitalize the heart of the city.

One major part of that is the luxury apartments now being leased out in the Eddy Building and even more that are near completion in the Bancroft Building across the street.

Both sit on Washington Avenue, helping to make downtown a true destination.

"I'm excited about the fact that I know Delta College is here, Central Michigan is here, the amount of people that it is going to start bringing in, the restaurants that are popping up right around the corner, I'm just excited to be a part of what's brand new for Saginaw again," said Marybeth Barlett, a new resident of the Eddy Building.

At last check, project mangers hope the Bancroft units will be ready for their first tenants by mid-May.
