FLINT (WJRT) -
(04/25/14) - The General Motors Foundation is supporting some Flint-area groups with more than $80,000 in grant money.
GM issued Plant City grants to 13 organizations Friday morning at the For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum in Burton.
Some of the recipients include Big Brothers Big Sisters, Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan the Hispanic Tech Center.
After the presentation, the recipients were invited to see how the Flint River Watershed Coalition plans to spend some of their donation dollars.
"We have an incredible amenity right here, it's in our backyard. A lot of times, the adults don't even know about it. Just to get out there and use it and enjoy it and help us in our work to protect it," said Rebecca Fedewa, Flint River Watershed Coalition.
The GM Foundation has issued more than $1 million in grants to plant city organizations over the last five years.
