Saginaw residents injured in BB gun shootings

Posted: Updated:
SAGINAW (WJRT) - (04/25/14) - It appears Saginaw has a group of people going around certain neighborhoods, firing BB guns at people.

There are no serious injuries, but police want the people responsible caught before someone is badly injured, or before the shooters start using different weapons.

These attacks have happened within the last week, and while the BB's haven't caused major injuries, they sure do leave a mark.

"It felt like my leg was on fire," said Kristin Bohlken.

Bohlken says that's how her left leg felt after getting shot at by a BB gun. She says the mark it left is getting bigger by the day. This happened Sunday night outside her home on Mackinaw on Saginaw's west side.

"We were actually inside watching a movie, when we heard all the ruckus outside," said Susan Bentley, Bohlken's mother.

The ruckus was being made by a seven people who were trying to hide.

"They said they were being chased around the neighborhood with a guy and some pellet guns, so we went out there to see what was going on, and they pulled up along our driveway and started shooting at the kids," Bohlken said.

Bentley also got hit.

"It hurt...it stung," she said.

"He literally stopped his car to aim, and there was about four guys in the car, and they were all aiming and shooting at us at the same time," Bohlken said.

The group of youngsters that was being chased left the home before police arrived.

Three nights later, Austin Totten was walking his dog a few blocks away when he saw a car drive by.

"A dark colored car, I heard two shots go," he said.

He says he was the target of a BB gun attack, and he kept the BB to prove it.

"It was right here in the middle of the knuckle, right here, and I had to pop it out like a pimple," he said.

That same night, Saginaw Police say another person was hit by a BB gun on Fayette Street. Police are looking for a dark-colored Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix.

Totten hopes the suspects are caught soon.

"Why would some idiot shoot me for no reason?" he said.

Police say if the person or persons are caught, they could be charged with felonious assault.
