FLINT (WJRT) -
(05/01/14) - Thursday was graduation day for some local law enforcement.
After 16 weeks of intensive training, 11 members of the Mott College Law Enforcement Regional Training Academy got their diplomas.
Next, they'll help keep communities safe.
"Sixty percent of all law enforcement officers in Michigan are over the age of 40. Now while 40 is not old, many officers started in their 20's, so they are getting 20, 25 years on the job. They are starting to reach their age of retirement and starting to move on," said David Harvey, of MCOLES.
Of the 11 officers graduating from this years academy, five of them will be working for the Genesee County Sheriff's Department.
