Accident in Mecosta County kills two and seriously injures another

MECOSTA COUNTY (WJRT) - (05/03/14) - Michigan State Police say two men are dead and another is seriously injured following an accident in Mecosta County.

Police say a 1997 GMC Jimmy failed to stop at an intersection and was hit by a 2005 Ford Ranger pickup truck. The accident happened on 8 Mile Road and Northland Drive in Mecosta Township.

The driver of the pickup, a 31-year-old man from Cedar Springs, Mich., was taken to Spectrum Health Big Rapids Campus. He suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Jimmy, a 18-year-old man from Wyoming, Mich., was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids with serious injuries. The other two men in the Jimmy, an 18 year old from Wyoming and a 22-year-old man from Coopersville, Mich, died at the scene.

Police are withholding their identities at this time.

The crash is under investigation.
