GLADWIN COUNTY (WJRT) -
(05/05/14) - A group of Gladwin students did their part in helping out the ecosystem Monday morning.
About 100 Chinook salmon minnows were released into the Chippewa River at the Chippewa Nature Center near Midland.
The students got the eggs in November and raised the new fish in the classroom.
High school students and second grade kids all took part.
"We work with the salmon, learning about ecology and biology, genetics, evolution,we use them for the whole gammet of our curriculum. It's just a great opportunity for the kids," said Chad Donahue, of Gladwin High School.
The program is through the Department of Natural Resources and The Trout Unlimited program.
