(05/07/14) - Are you ready for the next Very Pinteresting healthy challenge? This one means a trip to the grocery store and, firing up your oven. I keep hearing people talk about kale, so I looked it up on Pinterest.
There are a lot of pins - and most of them were about making kale-chips. Yeah, like potato chips, but healthier and a lot lower in calories and fat.
In fact, I paid a visit to one of Genesys Athletic Club's healthy living gurus, and she let me in on why kale is getting so much hype!
"A lot of people think it is trendy, but I say kale is here to stay. Because of all the nutrients they are finding in kale, kale is fastly becoming a superfood, which means that it is packed full of nutrients. It's a leafy green, it's got protein, it's an ant inflammatory vegetable, which is great for people with arthritis and that are suffering, even for your organs and things," says Jennifer Lynch, a wellness navigator at the Genesys Athletic Club in Grand Blanc.
Lynch says the key to good chips is to make sure you dry thoroughly before baking! I was skeptical, but I found a pin that had 15 different kale chips recipes.
