Flint council gets extra ethics training

Posted: Updated:
FLINT (WJRT) - (05/07/14) - The City of Flint is debating a $12 million budget deficit, and Wednesday night, as they review the road ahead, council is getting some extra training.

The session, led by the Michigan Municipal League, is focused on ethics.

It's something council goes through every four years or so, but the timing of Wednesday's workshop is quite important.

"The ethical concerns that the citizens have about their elected officials at any level are very important, and Flint will be transitioning out of the emergency manager situation, so it's a good time to be here and reintroduce some of the concepts to the folks here," said Bill Mathewson, of the Michigan Municipal League.

Leaders of the forum say it's important to keep ethical concepts in mind and let them be the guide for each decision they make as public officials.
