Reward offered for information about graffiti in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT (WJRT) - (05/08/14) - Police in Mt. Pleasant are on the lookout for vandals who've created several thousands of dollars in damage with spray paint.

They are offering a reward.

Whoever is responsible hit at least a dozen properties in the last few days. Police say if they aren't caught soon, they may strike again.

The vandalism is an eyesore - giving headaches to business and property owners who have to clean it up.

"This isn't art. They may regard it as art, but it's vandalism," said David Zammrron, of Central Real-Estate.

Zammrron says he noticed his back fence was tagged on Tuesday.

"We speculate that it happened sometime between 8 p.m. and that morning," he said.

He'll have to clean it up - and he is not happy.

"We have to bear the cost of repainting," he said. "I've been here 32 years and have never been the victim ofgraffitii or vandalism."

Authorities don't think these markings are cute either. The culprits are bold - striking just feet from the police station.

Police believe the same person is creating the mess. They're using the same methods, big designs with black paint.

Zamerron says he'll work with police to make sure the guilty party pays for their destructive designs.

"We will cooperate in prosecution whole heartedly," he said.

Meantime, the cleanup process is underway and police ask that people in the community keeps their eyes open to help them catch whoever is leaving behind this trail of unwanted paint.

Mt pleasant is offering award of up to $200 for information that helps them find whoever is responsible.
