(05/11/14) - If you're heading out to celebrate Mother's Day, you'll be in good company.

Many local restaurants say this is their busiest day of the year and The National Restaurant Association agrees.

ABC12  made a stop at Italia Gardens in Flint Township. They have been preparing for the Mother's Day rush for a long time.

They tell us they'll have about three times more people visit their restaurant than a normal Sunday.

They opened an hour early to accommodate everyone and they'll stay open late if they need to.

We caught up with the kitchen manager, Randy Hipps. He says they want mothers and their families to leave with one thing.

"Just a smile, I hope they get good service, good food, we're giving our mini free cannoli, to all moms, I hope they're happy when they leave whether they're disgruntled about the wait or not, good food, good service, they'll leave with a smile that's good enough for me," he said.
