FLINT (WJRT) -
(05/12/14) - Mothers Day was celebrated by most this weekend, but Monday, a special donation for local moms was dropped off at the YWCA Safehouse.
Flushing Middle School students headed up the "Movers for Moms" donation drive, and Monday, Two Men and a Truck helped make delivery the goods.
The YWCA says they're completely dependent on donations, so it's wonderful to see even Mid-Michigan kids getting involved in the effort to give back to their community.
"We house 500 women and children a year, so you can imagine the amount of clothes, health and beauty products and all of the needs you have in your own house, where we need to be able to provide them to these families who typically come to us with nothing," said Harmony Langford, YWCA, chief executive officer.
The YWCA says the support is extra valuable to these women who have already taken the courageous step of leaving an abusive relationship for the betterment of themselves and their children.
