Another Flint School union votes to save the district money

Another Flint School union votes to save the district money

FLINT (WJRT) - (05/14/14) - The second of three unions, representing Flint School employees voted Wednesday to accept a proposal aimed at helping the district save money.

A representative with SEIU Local 517M of Flint, Unit 150, says 100 percent of those who voted, said 'yes' to the plan.

The union represents para-pros, or support staff.

Monday, the United Teachers of Flint, representing more than 500 teachers, also voted to accept their new contract proposal.

The school board still needs to approve all changes.

    (9/14/14) - Roughly 400-500 community members made their way out for the Second Annual "Stop the Violence" event in Flint Sunday. Beginning with a parade that started at East Pierson Road and culminating at Berston Field House, rally-goers were met with a slew of vendors, activities and food that was put on by the Community Take-Back Organization. And with violent crime down in the city this year, the new theme attached to the event this time around was a "Celebration of Life".
