The power has since been restored.

Much of downtown Flint was out of power for nearly three hours Wednesday morning, affecting nearly 300 Consumers customers.

Consumers Energy is still trying to figure out what caused the outages, which led to evacuations at some major downtown offices - such as the circuit court and district court buildings.

One woman was waiting for district court to start when the lights went out just after 9 a.m.

"Extremely frustrating, I drove up here from Oakland County," said Penny Bradley.

People were escorted out of the McCree Building and they stood outside for a few hours as they waited for answers.

Many walked away with a bigger headache.

"I might have to drive all the way back up here for a case that's not involving me," Bradley said. "I'm a witness and it was a little bit nerve racking, you don't know, what's going on inside."

Even businesses that didn't lose power were impacted.

Many people assumed that Evelyn Harrison's bakery was closed. A lot of workers from the 68th district court come to the bakery, but barely anyone walked inside Wednesday morning.

"It can be very frustrating because we're businesses downtown, we need have an idea if we are affected by the power outage, how long will it be because time is money," Harrison said.
