Possible gas tax increase could fix Michigan roads

MICHIGAN (WJRT) - (05/23/14) - Drivers are hitting the road, ready to enjoy a great holiday weekend - but talks of a gas tax increase is putting a little damper on their fun.

There's been talks going on in Lansing about raising the state's gas tax to shore up money for road repairs. That means much higher prices at the pump.

While these motorists are thinking about what they'll do this weekend, in the back of their minds, they may be thinking about having to pay to fix the state's roads.

They're supposed to vote Tuesday on a measure that could raise gas prices 25 cents over the next four years.
