Spike in gas prices doesn't deter travelers this holiday weekend

MICHIGAN (WJRT) - (05/24/14) - Many people are heading north for the holiday weekend, despite the recent spike in gas prices.

With no surprise, gas prices rose about 10 cents in Mid-Michigan just before Memorial Day weekend, but that isn't stopping the drivers we spoke to from enjoying themselves.

"You just got to bite the bullet," Bill Brown, Flint, told ABC12 Saturday.

AAA reported the average price in Flint at about $3.86 this weekend. It is a similar story in the Tri Cities, with average prices sitting at about $3.85 cents a gallon.

Still, the national average price for a gallon of gas is about the same as last Memorial Day weekend, $3.65, according to AAA.
