Crews work to fix sinkhole in Flint

Posted: Updated:
FLINT (WJRT) - (05/29/14) - City crews are working on fixing a sinkhole on Flint's north side.

We first told you about it Tuesday.

It's on Dupont near Lyndon, off Pierson Road.

Traffic is blocked off near the area as repairs are being made.

Neighbors in the area were concerned about safety and say the sinkhole is about 10 feet deep and two to three feet wide.

Shirley Clady lives at the corner of Dupont and Lyndon and has been over to inspect the sinkhole.

"It's deep," she said.

You almost can't see just how bad it is until you get up close.

"(It's) probably about 10 feet deep," said Kinish Grady. He lives across the street from Clady. "Three or four feet wide."

"It's unsafe for the kids and the cars coming down the street," Clady said. "Yes it is."

Kinish has been sitting outside observing.

"I watch the people go round it," he said. "It funny (sic). It (sic) really is."

He says he saw it go down, literally, Monday afternoon.

"It was just a big ol' pothole," said Kinish's son Kenneth Grady.

"Consumers (Energy) truck came down through here and hit it and it just gave away," Kinish said.
