(05/28/14) - Elementary students in Ithaca put on hair nets and plastic gloves to stop hunger on Wednesday.
They worked to feed 10,000 people.
Kids at North Elementary packed bags full of chicken flavoring, soy, vegetables and rice to help feed families in their community and around the world.
Five thousand of the bags will stay in Gratiot County, while the other half will be sent to third world countries.
Students raised nearly $3,000 through coin drives, donations and a grant they were awarded from the Gratiot County Community Foundation for the community service project. They worked with Kids Against Hunger, a humanitarian food aid organization that's working to significantly reduce the number of starving children around the world.
