Chrysler to push for change of anti-discrimination law at Mackinac Policy Conference

Posted: Updated:
MACKINAC ISLAND (WJRT) - (05/29/14) - Chrysler is using the Mackinac Policy Conference to push for change to Michigan's anti-discrimination law to better protect gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgenders against discrimination.

Chrysler will be announced as one of the new members of the Michigan Competitive Workforce Coalition during the conference on Thursday.

The Detroit Regional Chamber, Kellogg and Pfizer are among those signing the initiative.

Efforts to update the 1976 Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act have failed in the Legislature.

Republicans say religious beliefs must be considered, too.
