UAW delegates in Michigan to pick new president, vote on proposal

Posted: Updated:
MICHIGAN (WJRT) - (06/02/14) - More than 1,000 UAW delegates from across the country are in Michigan on Monday.

They'll be picking a new president and deciding if they'll raise dues for the first time since 1967.

Bob King will give his last speech as president at the UAW Constitutional Convention.

Current secretary Dennis Williams is expected to be voted in as the new president on Wednesday.

Delegates will also vote on a proposal to raise monthly dues from 2 hours pay to 2.5.

Union leadership says the extra money is needed for the strike fund.
