Flint city leaders to meet Monday to continue work on proposed budget

Posted: Updated:
FLINT (WJRT) - (06/09/14) - Flint city leaders will meet, Monday, to continue work on Emergency Manager Darnell Earley's proposed budget.

Flint leaders have been looking for ways to stop public safety cuts and water rate increases.

The proposed cuts come as the city deals with its $12 million shortfall.

Earley has proposed cutting 36 police department jobs and 19 fire fighter positions.

The public hearing will start at 5:30 p.m. in city council chambers.

Flint leaders are also expected to take up the second reading of new ordinances - including increasing the punishment for owners if their dogs attack.
