ISABELLA COUNTY (WJRT) - (06/11/14) - He was arrested for shooting at vacuum salesmen last Thursday.

Wednesday, his employer, Central Michigan University, is reacting.

Professor Robert Lee is out on bond, but it's unclear what his future holds.

Lee is a Human Environmental Studies Professor at CMU. Students on campus say they're disappointed with his actions.

Students at Central Michigan University are not happy to learn one of their professors is accused of shooting at two traveling salesman.

"I thought, 'here we go again with another teacher that's getting in trouble,'" said student Chandler Hall

Investigators from the Isabella County Sheriffs Department say 61-year old Robert Lee was arrested and charged with felonious assault and reckless discharge of a weapon.

They say, last week, two salesmen knocked on his door in the 6000 block of Vandecar Road in Fremont Township.

Lee answered and motioned for them to wait. He walked into the garage, came out with a gun and fired two shots as the men drove off.

No one was hurt, but Lee faces prison time.

Central Michigan released a statement saying they are taking the allegations seriously. The university is conducting its own investigation while law enforcement officials continue theirs.

In the meantime, Lee's classes have been assigned to another teacher.

Students are concerned.

"We're starting to get a bad reputation from our professors not showing a good side of them," said student Emily Benis.

"I know the last two years we've had a couple different stories of professors and faculty in different situations that seem just really extreme," said student Beau Arlt.

According to the Sheriffs Department, Lee was under the influence of alcohol during the altercation.
