FLINT (WJRT) -
(06/11/14) - The school year may be over, but that doesn't mean the learning has to stop.
The Cranbrook Institute of Science brought a summer science camp to sixth graders at Brownell Elementary School in Flint, Wednesday morning.
Students worked in groups, building water filters, learning math and playing Newtonian croquet.
"Our hope is to kind of beef them up right here before they go for the summer and give them something they can think about, but also hopefully next year when they come back to school, go to middle school or another school, they actually have something that they learned and maybe continue their education with their teachers over there at the same time," said John Maddox, educator.
The Charles S. Mott Foundation and Flint Community Schools helped put on the summer science camp.
