Trial begins for men accused in shooting death at pre-prom gathering

Posted: Updated:
SAGINAW (WJRT) - (06/11/14) - The trial started, Wednesday, for four men accused of shooting and killing a 17-year-old girl at a pre-prom gathering in Saginaw.

Tonquinisha McKinley was shot and killed at a pre-prom party last May in Saginaw. Three others were hurt as well.

Last month, a Saginaw judge decided the four men would stand trial for her murder.

Those men went before a Saginaw judge on Wednesday.

After jury selection wrapped up, the prosecutor delivered opening arguments. Then, two lawyers for the defendants presented their opening arguments.

That was followed by testimony.

The assistant director of Saginaw's 911 took the stand. That person was questioned about the 911 call that came in the night Mckinley was killed.

Isaiah Clark, Karon Thomas, Keon Bowens and Evelis McGee are being tried together.

The most serious charge they face is second degree murder.

If convicted, they could spend the rest of their lives in prison.
