Flint Farmer's Market says goodbye to Howard Farms after 37 years of business

FLINT (WJRT) - (06/14/14) - For the past 74 years, people have shared a lot of memories at the Flint Farmer's Market, but those memories are coming to an end at the old venue.

It closed Saturday, but will reopen soon at its new location in downtown Flint next week.

Although many of the market's vendors are preparing to move to the new location, some won't be coming with them.

Howard Farms has been a vendor at the Flint Farmers' Market for the past 37 years. Now they're saying goodbye to longtime customers. People were eager to stand in line just to let the Howard's know how much they appreciate their business.

"It's very humbling that all of these people are here. We totally didn't expect so many people, not at all, I feel a little sad," said Linda Howard, of Howard Farmers.

Other vendors who are preparing to go to the downtown location weren't expecting their last day at this venue to be such a sad one either.

"I didn't think I would be this emotional today, I thought it would just be an easy breezy day today, but it wasn't, it's kind of slowing down now and I say goodbye to the people and the kids I've known since they were in their moms belly, I watched them grow," said Jacqueline Perez, Flint Farmer's Market.
