Residents march to end crime

FLINT (WJRT) - (06/19/14) - Law enforcement officers and volunteers are trying to make Flint streets safer.

Thursday, they marched through Flint communities to get residents to turn on their porch lights.

It's part of the "Light Up The City" Campaign.

The parade began  and ended at Max Brandon Park. It started around 6 p.m.

After the parade, volunteers and law enforcement officers went door to door in the neighbor around Max Brandon Park to promote Light up the City.

"Bad people do not want to go where everybody can see them, they stick in the darkness and the shadow,  so the more light we can get turned on, we can keep them out of those areas," said MSP Trooper Steven Kramer.

The next Light up the City parade in Flint is scheduled for July.
