Business owners blame construction on revenue loss

Posted: Updated:
(06/20/14) - There are not one but two major construction projects going on at the same time in Davison Township.

The Genesee County Road Commission began reconstruction of Lapeer Road at Charter Oaks Drive on Monday. There's also sewer line work taking place on Lapeer Road, which is right in front of local businesses.

Those business owners say they're taking a major hit because of this double whammy. They say many of their customers assume their closed.

"I just really think it's affecting us because people don't want to fight through the construction, they don't want to fight through the cones and the barrels," said Chad Kyle, manager of Davison Bacon and Sausage Works.

Randy Stewart, the building planning administrator for Davison Township, is overseeing the project.

He wasn't in his office, Friday, to comment, but ABC12 has learned that the project is not expected to last all summer.

The Lapeer Road reconstruction project is expected to be done Aug. 8.
