Jury deliberates in Saginaw pre-prom murder trial

SAGINAW (WJRT) -

(06/26/14) - The jury is now deliberating on charges against four men accused in the pre-prom shooting that killed 17-year-old Tonquinisha McKinley.

Karon Thomas, Isaiah Clark, Keon Bowens and Evelis McGhee are on trial, all charged with second-degree murder and other felony counts for the deadly pre-prom shooting on May 23, 2013.

Saginaw Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Paul Fehrman argues the shooting was gang-related. He played a 911 tape for jurors and presented photos of some defendants flashing gang signs and guns to make his point.

Fehrman told the jury the affiliation helped lead to their decision to commit the crime.

No one knows which bullet killed McKinley, and there were discrepancies in some of the witness testimony.

Fehrman says these men were aware of the consequences.

The four defendants face life in prison if they're convicted on all the charges.
