UAW supports Peters for U.S. Senate

Posted: Updated:
FLINT (WJRT) - (06/28/14) - Saturday, U.S. Senate candidate Gary Peters earned an important endorsement.

"The men and women of the UAW represent the very heart and soul of the middle class, and that's why I'm running for the United States Senate. It's about standing up for middle class families all across this great state," Peters said.

Saturday, the United Auto Workers formally put it's support behind the Democrat.

They used Flint's Sitdowners Memorial as a backdrop for the rally.

Peters talked about his support for Michigan's auto industry, including his efforts to make sure automakers had the resources they needed to survive during the Great Recession.

Peters is up against former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, who's a Republican.

They're vying for Senator Carl Levin's seat after he announced his retirement.
