Pride in the Park part political, part fun

Posted: Updated:
FLINT (WJRT) - (06/28/14) - Flint's Pride in the Park was part political, and a lot of fun.

Democratic Lieutenant Governor candidate Lisa Brown joined Flint Mayor Dayne Walling and Congressman Dan Kildee to talk about the state's ongoing legal battle over gay marriage.

"We need to act. And we have it within our power to act," Kildee said.

But that was just part of this annual event.

Pride in the Park is designed to show a positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

They even had a "Drag Photo Booth". Organizers say it's a fun way for everyone to take part in this positive event.
