Flint man concerned about dead dogs left by the curb

Posted: Updated:
FLINT (WJRT) - (06/28/14) - A Flint man is speaking out about a cringe-worthy issue.

Charles Benefield, who lives on Lawndale Avenue, contacted ABC12 because two dead dogs have been left roadside for five days.

His claim is that they were shot by police and left there.

Benefield says he and a neighbor covered them up and put them into a trash bin at the curb.

He tells us they've since contacted City Hall about getting them picked up, but so far, no one has come out.

"I would like to see them removed. Smell unbearable, unsanitary, maggots, unbelievable, why would you leave it like that," Benefield said.

Benefield did say their scheduled trash pick up is Monday, but it's unclear if they'll take the bin.

We contacted Flint Police. They weren't able to say whether or not officers are responsible for shooting the dogs.
